John Obi Mikel opens up on relationship with former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh
John Mikel Obi, former Super Eagles midfielder says coach Sunday Oliseh is the worst coach he played under during his football days.
The gaffer was appointed Head Coach the Nigerian national team in 2016 but could not live up to expectations as he was sacked few months after assuming his role.
The former Chelsea man in an interview said “I remember the first day he came into the camp. Then we reported to the camp for International duties, then he came straight at me and Vincent Enyeama, the goalkeeper, who also was very powerful back then.
He came straight at us and Elderson Echiejile, and he said a few things. He said he heard there was a lot of player power with us.”
According to him, Vincent Enyeama got angry over what the coach said and told him how united the players were.
Mikel Obi said Coach Sunday then threatened to get them out of the team as a result of the back and forth with him.
“He took Enyeama out of the team, and he came at us saying he was going to take us out of the team. He said he was going to take us out of the team; he said he was going to make sure we didn’t play anymore.”
He described his former manager as someone who had no clue of how to handle a team.
“He was so bitter with everybody, jealous with everybody, and had no respect for speaking to anybody, whether the physio or anybody.
