Ghana international Afriyie Barnieh Daniel has held his first training session with his new side FC Zurich in Switzerland where he will be for the next three and half years.

The 21-year-old joined the side from Ghana Premier League side Accra Hearts of Oak after the expiration of his contract few days ago.

He extended his contract with Hearts of Oak for some few days to be able to participate in the 2022 CHAN hosted by Algeria after his old contract expired in December 2022.

The Swiss side announced the deal early this year in a statement that reads “The 21-year-old striker Daniel Afriyie is transferring from the Ghanaian first division club Hearts of Oak to FCZ with immediate effect and has signed a contract until the summer of 2026. The parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the transfer.”

Afriyie Barnieh penned an emotional goodbye to Hearts of Oak on Tuesday before officially starting training with his new side where he is expected to hit the grounds running to uplift the position of the club in the Swiss Super league.

FC Zurich are currently 9th on the Swiss Super League table with 19 points after 19 games.

Afriyie Barnieh Daniel has developed throughout the ranks of National Team football in Ghana from U-17 to the Black Stars.

He was part of the 26-man-squad for the Black Stars at the 2022 FIFA World Cup mundial in Qatar.

He was the deputy captain for the Black Galaxies at the 2022 CHAN Tournament held in Algeria.
