Saudi Arabian giants Al Ahli have reportedly opened negotiations to sign Lionel Messi, with a deal eyed for December, according to L’Équipe.

The 36-year-old Argentine icon, currently playing for Inter Miami in Major League Soccer, is said to be attracting serious interest from the Saudi Pro League once again, following prior attempts by other clubs in the Gulf nation to lure him from Europe and the MLS.

Sources close to the negotiations indicate that Al Ahli are ready to present a lucrative offer to Messi, hoping to add the eight-time Ballon d’Or winner to their star-studded ranks which already includes Riyad Mahrez, Roberto Firmino, and Franck Kessié.

The timing of the move — set for December — aligns with the conclusion of the MLS season and would allow Messi to make a high-profile mid-season switch.

While Messi has previously expressed contentment in Miami, the allure of a record-breaking deal and the chance to join a growing list of global superstars in the Saudi Pro League could prove tempting.

Negotiations remain ongoing and no formal agreement has been reached yet.
