Match Report: Hearts of Oak beat Berekum Chelsea to move second

Accra Hearts of Oak defeated Berekum Chelsea by 3-1 in their last round of matches in the first round of the Ghana Premier League 2022/23 season.

In a game that saw a tough first half from both sides in remaining intrepid not to be destabilised, the second half was a flurry of goals.

Hearts of Oak held on to the troubles of the visitors in the first 45 minutes but had other ideas in the second half after ending the first 0-0.

In the second half, especially in the early exchanges, it was almost same as the entire first half until things changed in the last ten minutes of the game.

On the 82nd minutes, Hearts of Oak broke the deadlock from an own goal scored by Berekum Chelsea defender Fuseini Zakaria.

Benjamin Yorke placed the icing on the cake for Hearts of Oak on the 87th minutes to make it 2-0 for the home side.

As if the game had not seen enough in the dying embers of the game with goals, two goals were scored after four minutes of added time.

Kusi Pandrous got a consolation for Berekum Chelsea on 90+2 minutes when their hopes looked like restored in getting a point from this game.

But Victor Aidoo dashed their hopes when he got the third goal for Hearts of Oak on the 90+4 minutes.

Slavtko Matic’s side continues their good run of form, generally, and have pushed to the second position on the league log barring the results for tomorrow’s games.
