French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice have completed the signing of promising Ghanaian defender Kojo Peprah Oppong from Swedish top-flight side IFK Norrköping.

The 19-year-old centre-back has been steadily rising through the ranks in Europe after moving to Sweden from Ghanaian talent hub, Strong Tower Football Academy. His commanding presence at the back and ability to play out from defence caught the attention of scouts across the continent, eventually leading to a move to Ligue 1.

Oppong made 17 senior appearances in the Allsvenskan with IFK Norrköping, where he impressed with his composure, athleticism, and strong aerial ability. His performances have also seen him receive call-ups to Ghana’s U20 national team, with many tipping him as a future Black Stars prospect.

He becomes the latest Ghanaian to sign for a Ligue 1 club, following in the footsteps of players like Mohammed Salisu and Alexander Djiku, who have established themselves in the French top tier.

Oppong is expected to initially be integrated into Nice’s first team squad during pre-season, as manager Francesco Farioli assesses his potential role ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The transfer is being hailed as a major step forward for the Strong Tower Football Academy, which continues to produce quality players for European markets.

Further details on the length of the contract and transfer fee remain undisclosed.
