Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh delivered a stellar performance on Saturday night, scoring and providing an assist as FC Aarau secured a 3–1 victory over AC Bellinzona in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 Swiss Challenge League season.

The match, played at the Stadion Brügglifeld, saw both sides head into the break level after a goalless first half. However, the second half sparked into life when Linus Obexer equalised for the visitors following an early breakthrough by Aarau.

Barnieh was instrumental in turning the tide in favour of the home side. He set up Valon Fazliu to restore Aarau’s lead before finding the net himself in the 54th minute to seal a well-deserved win for his team.

The 23-year-old attacker, who joined Aarau in 2024, has started the new campaign in fine form and will be looking to build on this impressive performance as the season progresses.
