Former Barcelona prospect Carles Pérez has been sidelined from action at Greek club Aris Thessaloniki after suffering a bizarre injury when he was bitten in the genitals by a dog, requiring hospital treatment.

According to local media reports on Wednesday, the 27-year-old winger sustained the injury while walking his own dog.

The incident occurred during an attempt to separate his pet from another dog, which resulted in a bite to his groin area, leaving him with a deep wound that necessitated medical attention.

Pérez featured in Aris’ 2–1 defeat against Araz-Nakhchivan in the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League second qualifying round. He is expected to miss the return leg in Thessaloniki due to the injury.

The Spanish youth international is hoping to revive his career in Greece after joining Aris on loan, with an option to buy.

He spent last season on loan at Getafe but failed to earn a permanent move, and parent club Celta Vigo had reportedly been looking to facilitate his departure for several months.

Pérez has made just one appearance for Aris so far—playing the full 90 minutes in the first-leg defeat—before this unexpected incident halted his progress.
