French Ligue 1 outfit OGC Nice have officially withdrawn their pursuit of Ghanaian international Ransford-Yeboah Königsdörffer following the emergence of medical concerns during his examination earlier today.

The highly rated 22-year-old forward, who starred for Hamburg SV in the German Bundesliga 2 last season, had already agreed personal terms with the French club ahead of a proposed €6 million move. However, the transfer has now been shelved after an issue was flagged during routine medical checks.

media reports in France reveal that the assessment was abruptly halted following a gym session recommended by the club’s medical team. The specific nature of the concern remains undisclosed.

Königsdörffer enjoyed a standout campaign last term, netting 14 goals in just 19 starts for Hamburg. Renowned for his blistering pace and versatility across the forward line, he is regarded as one of the most exciting young attacking prospects in the Bundesliga 2.

Born in Germany, Königsdörffer has been capped four times by the Ghana senior national team since making his debut in 2022 and was part of the Black Stars squad that featured at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The collapse of the move will come as a setback for the player, who was eager to begin a new chapter in Ligue 1. It remains to be seen whether OGC Nice will revisit the deal in the future or if other clubs will move in to secure his services.
