Dreams FC Shine in CAF Rankings as Medeama Break into Top 60

By Haruna Mubarak – 8 August 2025, 9:55 a.m.

Dreams FC have been rewarded for their remarkable run in the CAF Confederation Cup, earning 26th place in the latest CAF Club Rankings.

The ‘Still Believe’ side amassed 12 points after reaching the semi-finals of the CAF inter-club competition in the 2023/24 season – their debut in the tournament.

Their impressive journey ended with a 3-0 aggregate defeat to Egyptian heavyweights Zamalek, despite pulling off a shock goalless draw in the first leg in Cairo. Nevertheless, Dreams FC made history as the first Ghanaian club to reach the last four of the competition since its inaugural edition two decades ago.

The Ghana Premier League outfit remain the country’s sole representative in the top 50 of the rankings.

Meanwhile, Medeama SC have also made notable progress, climbing to 51st place with four points in the updated standings. The Mauve and Yellow qualified for the CAF Champions League group stages at their first attempt but were unable to progress to the knockout rounds.

By contrast, Ghana’s two most celebrated clubs – 1983 Champions League winners Asante Kotoko and 2004 Confederation Cup champions Hearts of Oak – failed to make the list.

At the summit of the rankings are Egyptian giants Al Ahly, followed by South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns and Tunisia’s Esperance de Tunis.
