PFAG support Semenyo

On behalf of the Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG), we stand in unwavering solidarity with Antoine Semenyo following the racist abuse he endured during Bournemouth’s Premier League opener at Anfield on 15 August 2025.

We deeply admire how Semenyo responded—demonstrating extraordinary strength and composure by continuing to play and scoring two brilliant goals. As he rightly noted, “Football showed its best side when it mattered most,” turning a moment of hate into one of unity, compassion, and sport’s true spirit .

PFAG unequivocally condemns racism in all its forms. Racist behavior has no place in football—or in society. We commend the swift action by Merseyside Police, who arrested a 47-year-old suspect on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offense, and the ongoing investigation by the Premier League and other authorities .

To Antoine: your courage continues to inspire. PFAG stands with you, ready to offer any assistance or support you may need. We also use this moment to urge football clubs, governing bodies, fans, and communities to continue working together to eradicate racism from the beautiful game once and for all.

Football is stronger when united. Together, we keep moving forward.
