The tournament, originally scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Stadium and at point at the Accra Sports, was relocated to the University of Ghana Stadium due to ongoing renovation works. The match was closely contested, with both teams creating several chances to break the deadlock.
Despite the aggressive play and numerous opportunities, only a single goal was scored. The crucial moment came in the 38th minute when Heart of Lions’ defender Ebenezer Abban inadvertently scored an own goal following a well-executed free-kick from Hearts of Oak’s Ransford Mensah.
