Black Stars goalkeepers’ trainer, Fatau Dauda, has acknowledged the challenges of Ghana’s upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers but insists the team is fully capable of securing maximum points.
The senior national team will regroup in September for Matchday 7 and 8 of the qualifiers. Otto Addo’s side will first travel to face Chad at the Stade Olympique Maréchal Idriss Déby Itno on 4 September, before returning to host Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium on 8 September.
Having recorded back-to-back victories in March, Dauda believes the momentum is with the team, though he admits the task ahead will be demanding.
“In March, we played two games and won both, with Ghanaians turning out in their numbers to support us. That is now behind us, and we must focus on the next games. To win, we must score goals and work hard,” Dauda told GHOne TV.
“We will do our very best to win, but I also know it will not be easy. Our opponents will be studying us, just as we will be analysing them. At this level, it is always tough, but we need to win these two matches if we want to reach the World Cup. It will not be easy, but I believe we can do it,” he added.
Otto Addo is expected to announce his squad for the double-header this week. Ghana currently top Group I with 15 points from six matches.
