Diamond League Star Udodi Onwuzurike Heads to Tokyo 2025

Nigeria’s Udodi Onwuzurike has secured qualification for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, earning his place through the World Rankings.

Onwuzurike sealed his spot in the men’s 200m after climbing the updated global rankings, which finalised the list of athletes heading to the Championships.

The talented sprinter has enjoyed a remarkable season, claiming third place in the men’s 200m at his debut Diamond League appearance in Brussels. He currently stands as Nigeria’s highest-ranked athlete in the event this season, with a season’s best of 20.17 seconds.

Onwuzurike is set to make his second Diamond League appearance in Zurich, where he will line up against world-class rivals including Noah Lyles and Letsile Tebogo in the men’s 200m.
