Asante Kotoko clinched the 2025 Champion of Champions title after edging Bibiani Gold Stars 1–0 on Sunday.
In a tightly contested encounter at Dun’s Park, Bibiani, the Porcupine Warriors held the reigning Ghana Premier League champions to a goalless first half.
Kotoko came into the fixture on the back of a disappointing run in the GHALCA Top Four, where they failed to collect a single point in three matches. This victory, therefore, was a much-needed boost to restore confidence and galvanise their supporters ahead of the forthcoming domestic and continental campaigns.
The decisive moment arrived in the 69th minute. A neat passage of play down the right flank earned Kotoko a free-kick, which was converted after substitute Musa Hamzata — a recent signing from Accra Lions — tapped home to break the deadlock.
Gold Stars pressed in search of an equaliser but were wasteful in front of goal, allowing Kotoko to maintain their slender lead until the final whistle.
The win sees the two-time African champions add yet another silverware to their collection, having already lifted the FA Cup, the 2025 President’s Cup, and the Toyota Cup after defeating South African giants Kaizer Chiefs at the Moses Mabhida Stadium earlier this year.
Looking ahead, Gold Stars will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League preliminary round against Algeria’s JS Kabylie, while Kotoko will face Nigeria’s Kwara United in the CAF Confederation Cup.
