Tony Baffoe and Stephen Appiah Inspire Black Stars Ahead of Chad and Mali World Cup Qualifiers

Former Ghana internationals Tony Baffoe and Stephen Appiah visited the Black Stars at their training session at the Accra Sports Stadium, offering words of encouragement as the team prepare for their crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying fixtures against Chad and Mali.

The presence of the two legends brought a significant morale boost to the squad. Appiah, Ghana’s iconic former captain who led the Black Stars to their maiden World Cup appearance in 2006, has long been regarded as a symbol of leadership and resilience. Baffour, a former forward and respected football administrator, has remained closely involved in Ghanaian football development over the years.

Head coach Otto Addo’s men will first travel to N’Djamena to face Chad on Thursday, 4 September, before returning to Accra to host Mali on Monday, 8 September. With Ghana currently sitting at the top of Group I, the team are determined to maintain their lead and secure qualification for a fifth World Cup appearance.

The motivational visit by Baffoe and Appiah is expected to inspire the players to rise to the occasion in these decisive encounters. Their words and presence reminded the current squad of Ghana’s rich footballing legacy and the responsibility that comes with wearing the Black Stars jersey.
