Berekum Chelsea head coach, Samuel Boadu, has extended his congratulations to Asante Kotoko following their hard-fought 1–0 victory at the Golden City Park on Saturday in the opening fixture of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

Speaking after the game, Boadu admitted his side failed to capitalise on their first-half dominance and paid the price for their missed opportunities.

“Congratulations to Asante Kotoko on their victory. We created good chances in the first half but unfortunately, we did not take them. That made the difference in the end,” he said.

The former Hearts of Oak manager went on to render an apology to the club’s supporters, many of whom had turned up in numbers to cheer the team on.

“I sincerely apologise to all Berekum Chelsea fans for today’s result. They came here expecting a positive start, and I share their disappointment. We must quickly regroup, work on our finishing, and come back stronger in our next match.”

Kotoko’s victory was particularly historic, as it marked their first win in Berekum in 15 years, with Albert Amoah netting the decisive goal in the 79th minute.
