Bibiani GoldStars’ Vincent Atingah Misses League Opener Due to Umrah Pilgrimage
Bibiani GoldStars SC centre-back and deputy captain, Vincent Atingah, was unavailable for selection in his side’s 2-1 victory over Bechem United in their Ghana Premier League opener at Dun’s Park on Sunday.
Atingah, together with the club’s Muslim players, had been excused by management to travel to Mecca to perform Umrah, a voluntary Islamic pilgrimage which may be undertaken at any time of the year.
The players returned to Ghana earlier today and are expected to rejoin training immediately as the team prepares for their CAF Champions League preliminary round fixture against Algerian side JS Kabylie this weekend.
