Asante Kotoko Confirm Receipt of GHS 1 Million Disbursement from GFA
Kumasi-based giants Asante Kotoko have confirmed the receipt of GHS 1 million from the Ghana Football Association (GFA) as part of the governing body’s latest financial support initiative for Premier League clubs.
The club’s Communications Director, Lawyer Sarfo Duku, disclosed that the money has already hit the club’s account. He emphasised that the disbursement will provide timely relief and bolster Kotoko’s operational and competitive activities.
“We can confirm that Asante Kotoko have received the GHS 1 million allocation from the GFA. This funding will go a long way to support the club’s financial obligations, including player welfare, technical preparations, and the broader administrative needs of the team,” Mr Duku stated.
The GFA announced earlier this week that each of the 18 Premier League clubs would receive the landmark financial package in a bid to strengthen the local league, ease the burden of rising operational costs, and ensure clubs remain competitive both domestically and on the continental stage.
Asante Kotoko, one of the most successful football clubs in Ghana and Africa, are expected to channel part of the funds into enhancing their squad, as well as investing in logistics and infrastructure ahead of the upcoming league season.
This move by the GFA has been widely praised as a significant step towards improving the financial health of Ghanaian football clubs and boosting the overall quality of the Premier League.
