AS Monaco’s players were left in an extraordinary situation after their Champions League flight was grounded due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system.
The aircraft remained stranded on the runway when the cooling system broke down, transforming the cabin into unbearable heat. In an attempt to cope, several members of the squad removed their clothing, with some eventually left in only their underwear.
When passengers were finally permitted to disembark, a number of players were seen stepping onto the tarmac dressed in little more than their undergarments.
The flight was subsequently cancelled, forcing the abandonment of Monaco’s scheduled pre-match press conference. Reports indicate that the team will now travel to Belgium on Tuesday morning ahead of their fixture against Club Brugge.
