Grace Andoh, the talented goalkeeper from Senya Beraku, has been named in the travelling squad of the Ghana Under-20 women’s national team, the Black Princesses, for their training camp and international assignments in Tunisia.
The Soccer Intellectuals Sporting Club shot-stopper earned her place in the team following an impressive campaign in the Women’s Premier League last season, where she featured in 17 matches and played 1,530 minutes.
Her inclusion is a source of immense pride for her hometown of Senya Beraku, a fishing and farming community in the Central Region. Local leaders and residents have hailed her achievement, describing it as a turning point for girls in the area.
“Grace has shown that with commitment and hard work, dreams can be achieved regardless of where you come from,” said a local community elder. “Her story will encourage many of our young girls to believe that football can create opportunities.”
Young aspiring footballers in Senya Beraku have also expressed excitement, seeing Andoh as a role model who has broken barriers and lifted the community’s name onto the national stage.
The Black Princesses are in Tunisia for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers, with Andoh expected to compete strongly for a starting spot.
