In a heartfelt gesture of appreciation for the pioneers of Egyptian volleyball, Bouchra Hajij, President of the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB), honored former Egyptian volleyball star Mohamed Saleh El-Sheikhshaki during the Egypt vs. Kenya final match of the African Youth Championship hosted in Cairo.

El-Sheikhshaki was one of the leading players of his generation, representing Egypt in World and Olympic competitions alongside renowned names such as Ibrahim Fakhr El-Din, Azmy Megahed, Gaber Abdel Salam, and Fouad Abdel Salam. After retiring, he continued to contribute to the sport as coach of Al Ahly’s women’s team and later the Egyptian national team, before health conditions forced him to step away from his duties.

During the ceremony, El-Sheikhshaki expressed his gratitude to the CAVB President for this honorable recognition, wishing the Confederation continued success and prosperity.

The event was attended by Major General Khaled Abou Zeina, Vice President of the Egyptian Volleyball Federation, board members Mona Abdel Karim, Brigadier Mohamed Farag, and Dr. Wael Kandil, along with Hassan Abed, Executive Director of the Federation and Tournament Director.
