The University for Development Studies (UDS), Ghana, has etched its name in history by becoming the first African university ever to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Universities World Football Tournament in Dalian, China.

UDS achieved this remarkable feat with an emphatic 4–1 victory over Spain’s Ramon Llull University. The match saw Alhassan Zakaria net a clinical brace, while Ezideen and Ibrahim Saani added inspired finishes to seal a commanding win.

The UDS men’s football team delivered a performance full of grit, skill and determination, thrilling supporters and proving their critics wrong. In doing so, they have proudly raised both the Ghanaian and African flags on the global stage.

Head Coach Ibrahim Tanko captured the moment perfectly:

“This is not just a win for UDS. It is a win for Ghana, for Africa, and for every young player dreaming of showcasing their talent on the world stage.”

With two wins from two matches, UDS marches confidently into the quarter-finals, rewriting history and inspiring a new generation of African footballers.

Join us in celebrating this milestone and share your messages of support for our gallant players as they continue their quest for glory!
