Egypt Wins African U-20 Volleyball Championship After Defeating Cameroon in the Final

The Egyptian U-20 men’s volleyball team was crowned champions of Africa after a convincing 3-0 victory (25-20, 25-18, 25-22) over Cameroon in the final match held on Friday at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Sports Hall in Sixth of October City.

The young Pharaohs delivered an outstanding performance throughout the tournament, securing the title without a single defeat. They advanced to the final after sweeping Kenya 3-0 in the semifinals, before overcoming Cameroon in style to claim the continental crown.

In the third-place playoff, Kenya defeated Uganda 3-1 to take home the bronze medal.

Egypt’s path to glory featured a series of impressive victories: a 3-0 win over Zimbabwe in the opener, followed by another straight-sets triumph against Algeria. They later overcame Rwanda 3-1 and outlasted Uganda in a thrilling five-set encounter (3-2), proving their strength on the way to the semifinals.

The Egyptian delegation was headed by Dr. Hamdy Nour El-Din, a member of the Volleyball Federation’s board. The technical staff included Percy Onken (general supervisor), Ahmed Samir (head coach), Mohamed Bekhit (assistant coach), Ahmed Medhat (performance analyst), Mohamed Younes (team doctor), Sameh Nour (rehabilitation specialist), and Mohamed Ramadan (team manager).

The squad consisted of 12 players: Ibrahim Adel, Youssef Al-Rassas, Ahmed Youssef Gabal, Mazen Sherif, Mohamed Al-Daqqaq, Ahmed Reda, Khaled El-Feky, Malek Nour, Ahmed El-Behairy, Hamza Yassin, El-Habib Ibrahim, and Hazem Kamal.

The tournament, hosted in Egypt at Dr. Hassan Mostafa Sports Complex, featured the participation of eight national teams from across the continent.
