Former Ghana international and current coach, Hamza Mohammed, has launched a scathing criticism of the Ghana Coaches Association, describing it as “toothless” in protecting the interests of its members.
Speaking on the recent dismissal of GoldStars head coach Frimpong Manso, Mohammed expressed disappointment at the lack of solidarity among local coaches whenever one of their colleagues is unfairly treated.
“The Coaches Association is toothless. I believe that when a club unjustly terminates a coach’s contract, no local coach should accept the position. We must stand together to protect the integrity of our profession,” Mohammed stated.
He went on to stress that he would personally reject any approach from GoldStars, citing the controversy surrounding the abrupt removal of Coach Manso.
“If GoldStars were to contact me today, I would decline the offer because of the foul play surrounding Coach Frimpong Manso’s exit. Until we take a united stand, clubs will continue to disrespect coaches with impunity,” he added.
Mohammed’s remarks have reignited debate over the authority and effectiveness of the Ghana Coaches Association, with many observers calling for stronger measures to safeguard the welfare and reputation of local coaches in the Ghana Premier League.
