The Black Queens of Ghana will take on Egypt in the final qualifying round of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

This crucial fixture will determine which of the two nations secures a place at the prestigious continental tournament, scheduled for March next year. The 2026 WAFCON will not only crown Africa’s best women’s football team but will also serve as the qualification route to the next FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Ghana’s Black Queens, who are seeking a return to the continental showpiece after missing out on recent editions, will be aiming to draw on their rich history in African women’s football. The team, three-time runners-up, last appeared at the WAFCON in 2018 when Morocco also hosted the competition.

Egypt, on the other hand, are determined to upset the odds and secure only their third-ever appearance at the tournament. The Pharaohs’ Ladies have made steady progress in women’s football and will pose a tough challenge for the Black Queens.

Next year’s WAFCON will be staged in Morocco for the second consecutive edition, following the successful hosting of the 2022 tournament. The North African nation has been investing heavily in women’s football and will once again provide the platform for Africa’s best to showcase their talent on the global stage.
