Kotoko Star Albert Amoah Tipped for Late Black Stars Call-Up Amid Iñaki Williams Injury Concerns

Asante Kotoko Sporting Club’s talismanic forward, Albert Amoah, is reportedly in line for a late call-up to the Ghana senior national team, the Black Stars, ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

According to sources close to the team, the potential invitation comes after Iñaki Williams of Athletic Club sustained an injury during his side’s league match on Saturday, raising doubts about his availability for Ghana’s crucial fixtures.

Amoah has been in impressive form for the Porcupine Warriors in the Ghana Premier League this season, earning widespread praise for his sharp finishing, strength, and consistency in front of goal. His performances have not gone unnoticed by the national selectors, who are said to be monitoring him closely as a possible replacement for Williams.

Ghana will face the Central African Republic in Meknès, Morocco, before returning home to play Comoros in Accra as part of their World Cup qualifying campaign. Should Amoah receive the call-up, it would mark his maiden appearance for the senior national team, a significant milestone in his burgeoning career.

A final decision on Williams’ fitness and any subsequent squad adjustments is expected to be announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) in the coming days.
