Arsenal youngster Charles Sagoe Jr has declined a recent call-up from Liberia for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Namibia and Equatorial Guinea during the current international break.

The 21-year-old forward has informed the Liberia Football Association (LFA) that he wishes to take some time before making a final decision on his international future.

Sagoe Jr, who qualifies to represent Liberia through his mother, is also eligible to play for Ghana, with the Ghana Football Association closely monitoring his progress and potential international allegiance.

Although appreciative of Liberia’s invitation, the Arsenal starlet is understood to be weighing his options carefully, recognising that whichever choice he makes will have a lasting impact on both his career and his family.

Sagoe Jr has enjoyed an impressive start to the season with Arsenal’s Under-21 side, registering three goals and three assists in his opening seven appearances.
