Zamalek have reaffirmed their confidence in under-pressure Belgian head coach Yannick Ferrera, despite recent disappointing results, the club’s treasurer, Hossam El-Mandouh, confirmed on Friday.

The White Knights have struggled this season under Ferrera, winning five matches, losing two, and drawing three in the Egyptian Premier League, including a derby defeat against arch-rivals Ahly, prompting calls from fans and pundits for his dismissal.

However, El-Mandouh confirmed that Ferrera will remain at the helm. “Yannick Ferrera will continue with Zamalek,” he told the TV channel MBC Masr.

When asked about the possibility of appointing an Egyptian general manager to support the existing technical staff, El-Mandouh responded, “We are studying this matter.”

Currently, Zamalek sits second in the league standings with 18 points, level with Masry, who hold the top spot thanks to better goal difference.

Looking ahead, Zamalek will prepare to face Somalia’s Dekedaha in the CAF Confederation Cup round of 32 on 18 October, as they aim to turn their season around.
