Jordan Ayew is on course to make history as Ghana’s oldest player to feature in a FIFA World Cup, when he steps onto the pitch during the 2026 tournament, to be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

Born on 11 September 1991, Ayew will be 34 years and 10 months old during the competition — just two months shy of his 35th birthday — surpassing the previous record held by Denis Odoi, who was 34 years and 7 months old when he represented Ghana at the 2022 World Cup.

The 2026 edition will mark Ayew’s third World Cup appearance, having previously featured in the 2014 and 2022 tournaments. In doing so, he will join an exclusive group of Ghanaian greats to have played in three World Cups, including Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, and his brother André Ayew.

A stalwart of the Black Stars, Jordan Ayew’s experience, professionalism, and leadership will be crucial as Ghana seeks to make a strong impression in the expanded World Cup format. His remarkable longevity and consistent performances are a testament to his dedication and resilience — hallmarks of a career that continues to inspire Ghanaian football fans around the world.
