The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) on the 29th October, 2025 presented Team Ghana to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams, following the team’s outstanding performance at the ANOCA Zone III Games held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso.

Ghana’s contingent, made up of 47 athletes across four disciplines; volleyball, handball, taekwondo, and karate-do returned home with a total of 10 medals, with every athlete earning at least one medal. The team’s haul included 1 gold, 4 silver, and 5 bronze medals.

The men’s volleyball team won gold after a remarkable campaign, while both the men’s and women’s handball teams secured silver medals. In karate-do, Ghana picked up two silver and two bronze medals, and the taekwondo team added three bronze medals, capping off an impressive all-round performance.

Hon. Kofi Iddie Adams commended the athletes for their determination, focus, and discipline, noting that their effort symbolises the growing strength of Ghanaian sport at regional and continental levels. He praised their ability to rise above challenges, adding that “in all these difficult circumstances, you have proven yourselves and made the nation proud.”

The Minister also acknowledged the pivotal role of the Ghana Olympic Committee, technical officials, and the Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso for their support throughout the games. He reaffirmed Government’s commitment to sports infrastructure and youth empowerment, announcing plans to construct multi-purpose courts in every district with markings for basketball, netball, handball, tennis, and volleyball.

“When you invest in sports, you are investing in something good and great,” Hon. Adams said. “The upcoming Sports Development Fund will help address many of the challenges facing our athletes and federations.”

He further noted that Ghanaian athletes continue to serve as global ambassadors of the nation’s values, projecting a positive image of Ghana through sport.

The Ministry congratulated all athletes, coaches, and officials for their achievements and assured them of continued government support in preparation for future competitions.
