Ghana’s all-time fastest sprinter, Benjamin Azamati, has taken a major step off the track as he proposed to his Italian partner and fellow athlete, Raquel Chavez, in a heartwarming moment aboard a luxury yacht.

The 27-year-old track sensation, known for his blistering speed and record-breaking performances, went down on one knee to pop the big question during a private cruise, surrounded by close friends and family. The touching proposal, captured in photos and videos that have since gone viral, showed the couple beaming with joy as Raquel said “yes.”

Azamati, who currently competes professionally in Europe, holds Ghana’s national records in both the 100 metres (9.90 seconds) and 200 metres (20.08 seconds). A product of the University of Ghana and later West Texas A&M University in the United States, he has represented Ghana at multiple international events, including the Olympic Games, World Championships, and Commonwealth Games.

Raquel Chavez, also an accomplished athlete, has been a constant supporter of Azamati’s career, often seen cheering him on at international meets. Their engagement marks another beautiful chapter in the life of one of Ghana’s most celebrated sports figures.

The couple is yet to announce a wedding date, but fans and fellow athletes from around the world have flooded social media with congratulatory messages, celebrating the union of the two sprinters.
