The Christian Atsu Educational Centre Primary School boys’ football team has once again distinguished itself by winning the Under-13 football competition at the just-ended Inter-Schools Football Games in SENYA BEREKU in the central region.

The team, who entered the tournament as defending champions, delivered an outstanding performance to retain the trophy for the second consecutive year. This year’s event featured 29 participating schools, making their victory a remarkable achievement.

Throughout the tournament, the boys displayed impressive skill, discipline and teamwork—qualities that earned them admiration from spectators, coaches and fellow competitors.

Speaking after the finals, the Director of the school, Mr. Seth Asiedu, applauded the players for their spirited performance. “Our boys have made us proud once again. Their commitment, discipline and passion reflect the values we uphold as a school. This triumph reinforces our belief in nurturing talent both in the classroom and on the field,” he said.

This year’s victory carried a deep emotional significance, as the school continues to honour the memory of Christian Atsu, the late Ghanaian international and former Chelsea and Newcastle United winger, who adopted and supported the institution during his lifetime. Many pupils and staff recalled how Atsu’s generosity, mentorship and love for children transformed the school and inspired countless young learners.

Before the presentation of the trophy, a brief tribute was paid to Atsu, acknowledging his lasting impact. A teacher noted, “Every time these boys step onto the field, they play with the spirit of a man who believed in them. Atsu’s legacy lives on through their achievements.”

Parents and community members have been encouraged to celebrate the young champions for lifting the image of the Christian Atsu Educational Centre and for honouring the memory of the man whose compassion and selflessness continue to shape the school’s identity.

The victory further strengthens the school’s reputation for promoting academic excellence alongside sporting development.
