Swedru All Blacks Women’s Organiser Explains Suspension of Planned Naked Demonstration
The Women’s Organiser of Swedru All Blacks, Mrs. Phine Diamond, has disclosed that the much-publicised naked demonstration planned by a section of the club’s female supporters was called off following an appeal from the club’s management.
According to Mrs. Diamond, the supporters had fully mobilised and were prepared to stage the protest in response to what they described as the team’s persistent poor performances under the current head coach. However, management intervened at the eleventh hour, urging the aggrieved supporters to grant the technical team a brief period—specifically two more matches—to turn the club’s fortunes around.
Speaking to Paul Agyeamang “Napoleon” of ICAD TV Sports, Mrs. Diamond revealed that public interest in the proposed demonstration had been high, particularly among sports journalists and football enthusiasts across the Central Region and the entire Nation, She explained that although the organisers were confident of sending a strong message through their intended action, they agreed to respect management’s plea in the spirit of maintaining unity within the club.
Mrs. Diamond emphasised that the decision to suspend the protest should not be misconstrued as a retreat. Rather, it is an opportunity for the coach and his technical staff to demonstrate genuine improvement and deliver positive results for the club and its supporters.
She cautioned that if the team’s performance does not improve in the coming fixtures, the organisers will have no option but to proceed with the planned demonstration, insisting that the supporters are determined to ensure accountability and renewed commitment from the technical team.
Swedru All Blacks, one of Ghana’s storied traditional clubs, have faced mounting pressure in recent weeks due to inconsistent performances, prompting growing agitation among their fan base. The coming matches are therefore expected to be critical in determining the next course of action by the supporters’ leadership.
