Ghana will have a strong presence in the men’s 100m final at the ongoing African Athletics Championships after two of the nation’s top sprinters secured qualification for the showpiece race.

Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, affectionately known as the “Village Boy”, and experienced speedster Joseph Paul Amoah both booked their places in the final following impressive performances in the semi-finals at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra.

Saminu has quickly become one of the standout stories of the championship, with the Ghanaian crowd rallying behind the talented sprinter whose remarkable rise from humble beginnings has earned him widespread admiration. His explosive pace and confidence on the track have made him a serious contender for a podium finish.

Amoah, meanwhile, brings valuable experience and composure into the final. The Ghanaian record holder has consistently represented the country on the international stage and will be hoping to use his pedigree to challenge Africa’s elite sprinters for gold.

The qualification of both athletes has boosted excitement among home supporters, as Ghana eyes a memorable outing in one of the most anticipated events of the championship. With the atmosphere building in Accra, fans will be eager to see whether the duo can deliver a historic performance on home soil.
