ASAC 2026: Nigeria Wins Second Gold as Mixed 4x400m Relay Quartet Strike on Day 2
Team Nigeria secured their second gold medal of the African Athletics Championships on Day 2 after a commanding performance in the Mixed 4x400m Relay.

The quartet of Ezekiel Asuquo, Toheebat Jimoh, Victor Sampson and Patience Okon-George produced a well-executed and composed run from start to finish, timing their exchanges efficiently and maintaining a strong pace throughout the race.
Nigeria crossed the line in a winning time of 3:16.41, a performance that underlined their depth and growing dominance in the relay events at continental level. Their smooth baton changes and sustained speed on the back straight proved decisive as they held off strong competition to seal gold.
The victory adds to Nigeria’s growing medal tally at the championships and further boosts their momentum as the competition continues, with several more track and field finals still to come.
