Sharaf Mahama, Son of  President John Dramani Mahama and Chief Executive Officer of Legacy Promotions, paid a courtesy visit to Ghana’s national U-17 side, the Black Starlets, during their friendly encounter against True Life FC at the Accra Sports Stadium last Saturday.

The visit came as a major source of encouragement for the young players, many of whom are hoping to build successful careers in professional football. Sharaf Mahama’s presence at the stadium sent a strong message that the efforts and sacrifices of the young talents are being recognised beyond the pitch.

During his interaction with the squad, he is believed to have urged the players to remain disciplined, focused and committed to their development, reminding them that dedication and hard work are key ingredients for success at the highest level of the game.

For the players, such a gesture can have a lasting impact on confidence and motivation. Young footballers often thrive when they receive support from influential figures, as it reassures them that their dreams are valid and achievable. Visits of this nature also help to ease pressure, boost morale and create a sense of pride in representing the nation.

Beyond motivation, the courtesy call also highlights the importance of investing in youth football in Ghana. With growing backing from stakeholders, corporate leaders and football lovers, the Black Starlets can gain access to better opportunities, stronger visibility and the resources needed to compete with the best teams on the continent.

Sharaf Mahama’s involvement through Legacy Promotions may also inspire future partnerships that could benefit youth football through sponsorship, mentorship programmes and talent development initiatives. Such support is vital in helping young players transition from promising prospects into established professionals.

The Black Starlets, who have a rich history in African and world youth football, continue their preparations with hopes of restoring their status among the continent’s elite. With encouragement from prominent supporters and the backing of Ghanaians, the future appears bright for the next generation of stars.
