The Management Committee of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, to seek spiritual guidance and prayers as Ghana intensifies preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The delegation, led by key officials of the Ghana Football Association and members of the Black Stars management team, visited the revered Islamic leader at his residence in Accra as part of efforts to rally national support behind the team’s quest to secure qualification for football’s biggest global showpiece.

During the meeting, the officials appealed for the prayers and blessings of the respected cleric, stressing the importance of unity, discipline and patriotism as the Black Stars continue their campaign towards the Mundial.

His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, widely regarded as a symbol of peace and national cohesion in Ghana, offered prayers for the team and urged the players and technical handlers to remain focused, committed and dedicated to making the nation proud.

The visit forms part of a broader initiative by the Black Stars management to engage key stakeholders and traditional leaders across the country ahead of crucial international assignments.

Ghana, four-time African champions, are aiming to secure another appearance at the FIFA World Cup after featuring prominently in previous editions, including memorable campaigns in Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, Brazil 2014 and Qatar 2022.

The Black Stars are expected to resume preparations in the coming weeks as anticipation continues to build among supporters across the country.
