Debibi United have secured promotion to the 2026/27 Ghana Premier League season after an impressive 3-1 victory over Tamale City in the Zone One play-offs.

The Sunyani-based side produced a commanding display in the decisive encounter, with striker Kwadwo Antwi emerging as the hero of the day after netting a sensational hat-trick to guide his club into Ghana’s top flight for the first time in their history.

Antwi opened the scoring with a composed finish before doubling Debibi United’s advantage with a clinical strike that left Tamale City chasing the game. Although Tamale City pulled one back to revive hopes of a comeback, Antwi completed his treble in style to seal a memorable triumph and spark jubilant celebrations among players, officials and supporters.

The victory marks a major milestone for football in Sunyani, as the city prepares to host Premier League football next season. Fans flooded the stands and streets in celebration after the final whistle, recognising the achievement as one of the biggest moments in the club’s history.

Debibi United’s promotion is the culmination of a remarkable campaign built on consistency, resilience and attacking quality throughout the season. Their success also highlights the growing strength of football in the Bono Region, with the club now set to compete against some of Ghana’s biggest sides in the country’s elite division next term.

For Tamale City, the defeat brings disappointment after a spirited campaign, while Debibi United can now look forward to testing themselves on the biggest stage in Ghanaian football.
