Mark Addo leds a five member committee to search for a new coach for Ghana

Following Chris Hughton’s dismissal as Black Stars head coach, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) is preparing for a new chapter in its history, one that will be characterized by a carefully laid out plan for selecting the team’s next Head Coach.

After Ghana’s Black Stars team was eliminated early from the ongoing AFCON 2023 tournament, the GFA has made the decision in an attempt to rejuvenate and reposition the team for success on the international front. Ghana finished with one point from the 33rd edition in Cameroon and two points from the 34th edition in Ivory Coast.

In a formal statement made on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the GFA unveiled its strategic plan, highlighting a thorough process to guarantee the the best manager is selected for the Black Stars.

Mark Addo, the Vice President of the Ghana Football Association will lead the committee and will be supported by Vice Chairman, Ace Ankomah, Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah, the Director of Coaching Education of the GFA, Opoku Nti and William Caesar Kartey, Chief Director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Criteria for the new Head Coach is as follows;

• Proven winner in men’s National Team or Club football

• Proven track record in team reconstruction, organization and development of young talent

• Must hold the highest football license in the world with over 15 years coaching experience

• Proven disciplinarian, tactician with leadership skills
