A nine-member Ghanaian swimming team has departed Accra for Romania to participate in the 2025 World Junior Swimming Championships.
The competition, which commences tomorrow and runs until 24 August, will bring together the finest young swimmers from across the globe. The Ghanaian contingent, made up of both male and female athletes, will compete in various freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly events.
Led by officials from the Ghana Swimming Association, the team has been in intensive training over the past months, with the aim of improving personal bests and raising Ghana’s profile on the international swimming stage.
This year’s championships provide a crucial platform for Ghana’s junior swimmers to gain exposure, test themselves against elite competition, and lay the groundwork for future appearances at the African Games and Olympic qualifiers.
Officials expressed confidence that the team would give a good account of themselves and return with valuable experience to inspire the next generation of Ghanaian swimmers.
