The Black Starlets of Ghana booked their place in the semi-finals of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers with an emphatic 3–1 victory over Niger on Thursday evening.

Rising star Robinho Yao Gavi stole the show with a superb brace, while Mark Kagawa Mensah capped off the performance with a spectacular long-range strike to seal the win. Niger managed to pull one back, but it was not enough to deny Ghana a deserved triumph.

The result sees Ghana progress to the last four of the competition, edging closer to qualification for the 2025 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, which also serves as a pathway to the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

The Starlets will now await their semi-final opponents as they continue their quest to restore Ghana’s rich legacy in youth football.
