Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club (WAC) held their final training session at the University of Ghana Stadium in Legon on Friday evening, as they prepare to face Asante Kotoko in a highly anticipated CAF Confederation Cup encounter this Sunday.

The training session, which was open to the media for the first 15 minutes, showcased a focused and determined Wydad side fine-tuning their tactics ahead of what promises to be a thrilling contest. Led by head coach Adil Ramzi, the Red Castle appeared in high spirits, going through set-piece drills and high-intensity possession routines.

Despite Wydad’s pedigree as one of Africa’s most successful clubs, history appears to favour the Porcupine Warriors — Wydad AC have never won a match in Ghana against Asante Kotoko. The two clubs share a rich continental rivalry, with Kotoko traditionally proving dominant on home soil.

The clash, scheduled for Sunday, 19 October 2025, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi, is expected to draw a capacity crowd as the Ghanaian giants seek to make a strong statement in the group stage of the Confederation Cup.

Asante Kotoko, under the guidance of head coach Karim Zito, are determined to build on their recent run of form and maintain Ghana’s impressive record against North African opposition at home. The club’s supporters have been urged to turn out in their numbers to rally behind the team.

Kick-off is set for 16:00 GMT, with CAF officials from Egypt appointed to oversee the fixture.
