Ghana’s Minister for Youth and Recreation, has assured the public that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi will soon receive full clearance from both the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and FIFA to host international matches.

According to the Minister, inspection teams from the two governing bodies have expressed satisfaction with the recent upgrades made to the facility, including improvements to the pitch, dressing rooms, floodlights, media areas, and spectator stands.

“We have worked closely with CAF and FIFA inspectors to address all the concerns they raised earlier. I can confidently say we are now at the final stages, and clearance will be issued very soon,” the Minister stated.

The Baba Yara Stadium, Ghana’s largest sporting venue, has undergone a series of renovations in recent months to meet international standards.

The confirmation comes as a major boost for Ghanaian football fans, particularly those in the Ashanti Region, who have long regarded the stadium as the spiritual home of the Black Stars and a fortress for Asante Kotoko.

Once approval is granted, the venue is expected to host both national team fixtures and CAF inter-club matches.
