Dr Randy Abbey Open to Arranging Flights for Fans to Support Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup
Chairman of the Black Stars Management Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and Acting CEO of COCOABOARD, Dr Randy Abbey, has expressed his willingness to facilitate travel arrangements for Ghanaian supporters who wish to attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup and cheer on the Black Stars.
Speaking in a recent interview, Dr Abbey revealed that discussions are underway to explore affordable and safe travel options that would enable passionate Ghanaian fans to experience the global tournament, which will be hosted across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.

“The World Cup is not just about the players — it’s about the fans too,” Dr Abbey said. “If we are able to put proper structures in place, I am very open to working with stakeholders and travel partners to make it possible for Ghanaian supporters to travel and support the team.”
He further emphasised the importance of fan presence at major international tournaments, highlighting how the energy and chants of Ghanaian supporters have historically inspired the Black Stars during crucial matches.
The move is expected to involve collaboration between the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the GFA, and recognised supporters’ unions, with a focus on ensuring transparency, affordability, and safety throughout the travel process.
Dr Abbey Executive Committee Member, who also serves as bankroller of Kpando based Hearts of Lions, believes that a well-organised supporters’ presence could boost morale within the national team and project a positive image of Ghana on the world stage.
“We want to make sure that wherever the Black Stars play, they can feel the love and support of their people,” he added.
Ghana’s qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup has already sparked excitement nationwide, with plans for both fans and officials underway as the country prepares for its fifth appearance at the global showpiece.
