Ghanaian boxing has been dealt another devastating blow following the untimely passing of Ernest Akushey, popularly known in the ring as Bahubali.

The promising fighter was rushed to hospital in the early hours of the morning, where he was later pronounced dead. His passing comes just 11 days after he last competed in the ring, leaving the boxing fraternity and fans across the country in deep shock.

Akushey, who had been steadily building a reputation for his resilience and warrior-like spirit, was admired for his dedication to the sport and his ability to inspire younger boxers. His sudden death has reignited concerns about the welfare, health monitoring, and medical support available to local fighters.

Tributes have poured in from fellow athletes, coaches, and fans, who described him as a determined sportsman with immense potential whose life and career have been cut tragically short.

May his soul rest in eternal peace. Ghana boxing has indeed lost a rising star.
